QUATREFOLIC® FOLIC ACID

What is Foli-Fort and what is it used for?

Foli-Fort is the innovative dietary supplement formulated by the TN Pharma Research & Development Team with patented Quatrefolic® Folic Acid to bring a profound state of well-being to the body.

Folic acid and folates are B vitamins (also known as vitamin B9).

Although frequently used as synonyms, the two terms should be distinguished:

  • the term Folate refers to the vitamin in its natural form found in foods;
  • Folic Acid identifies the synthetic molecule found in vitamin supplements and added in so-called fortified foods.

Folic acid properties

It is found in green leafy vegetables such as lettuce, spinach, and chard, as well as in grains and fish.

A deficiency of this vitamin can cause stress, irritability, and a lack of memory. Although it is so important for the well-being of the body, in a balanced diet, daily intake is estimated to be around 200 micrograms, but at certain times we need it more.

For example, during pregnancy to reach the safe parameters for reducing the occurrence of certain fetal diseases by up to 20% there is a need for adequate folic acid intake, which is exactly double the estimated intake in a balanced diet.

It should ideally be taken from one month before conception until at least the 16th week of pregnancy. In fact, folic acid intake reduces the occurrence of some fetal diseases by 20 percent. Through diet usually the correct intake is not achieved.

Folic acid is a yellow, poorly water-soluble substance found in liver, yeast and the green parts of vegetables. Since humans are unable to produce folates, it is essential to take them from the diet, making them essential nutrients.

Folic acid, in the form in which it is taken, is inactive and undergoes a series of structural changes within the liver that transform it into the active form that is 5-methyl tetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF).

In this form folate is necessary for the life and survival of the human organism because of its key role in the production of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) and the metabolism of certain amino acids, both of which are necessary for cell replication.

Together with vitamin B12, it is necessary for the production of hemoglobin, thus performing an antianemic function.

It is very important for growth, reproduction and proper functioning of the nervous system.

Folate also plays an important role in gestation, contributes to spermatogenesis in men and women, and is important for oocyte quality and maturation, implantation, placentation, fetal growth, and fetal organ development.

Folic Acid Deficiency

Folic Acid deficiency can induce reduced production of red blood cells in the blood, resulting in anemia. This condition can arise due to alcohol abuse, or the occurrence of celiac disease or insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

In pregnant women, folic acid deficiency, can have seriously adverse consequences on the development of the fetus. In some cases, high folic acid deficiency can induce defects in the fetus' nervous system, or the birth of premature babies and babies with spina bifida.

It happens more and more frequently that there are problems in the assimilation of folates and their conversion to 5-MTHF either related to metabolic disorders, or to the intake of drugs, or to malfunctions in the enzymes responsible for processing the starting folic acid... generating again in this case a deficiency capable of inducing the harmful effects we have seen.

In total, it is estimated that in Italy people with problems metabolizing Folic Acid are about 15-20% of the entire population.

The importance of the Quatrefolic® patent.

To remedy these common situations, the TN Pharma Research & Development Team has developed Foli-Fort, a cutting-edge dietary supplement that allows folic acid to be taken directly in its active form, 5-methyl tetrahydrofolate (5-MTHF), without it then having to undergo other metabolic changes within the body in order to carry out its final action.

This is made possible by the use of the patented Quatrefolic®, which provides Folic Acid with a structure similar to 5-MTHF, able to cross the gastric barrier and be absorbed directly into the small intestine, ready for use.

QUATREFOLIC

In addition, Quaterfolic® provides an excellent answer to the scientific community's questions about possible accumulation of UMFA (UnMetabolic Folic Acid) in the blood, i.e., Folic Acid that is not used and therefore has no biological function and whose effects on human health are not yet known. Quaterfolic® provides only the source of folate needed for the body's well-being, no waste accumulation!

The maximum daily dose established by the Ministry of Health for this vitamin is 400 micrograms/day. Thanks to balanced dosing, each tablet of Foli-Fort provides the body with 100 percent of the optimal recommended amount of Folic Acid!

Other important features of TN Pharma's Foli-Fort, which position this dietary supplement at the higher end of the spectrum and make it compatible with major food intolerances and common dietary regimens, are:

  • Absence of ingredients of animal origin (VEGAN)
  • Gluten-free
  • Lactose-free

With which supplement should TN Pharma combine Foli-Fort?

Foli-Fort, thanks to the Quatrefolic® patent, represents a true innovation in terms of quality and assimilation of Folic Acid and can be perfectly supplemented with another key nutrient in a highly advanced formulation: TN Pharma's Vitamin C Liposomal.

To increase the amount of Vitamin C absorbed with each single dose, the TN Pharma R&D team has chosen AQUASOME™ TECHNOLOGY.

AquaSome ™ is one of the first liposomal technologies available to the dietary supplement industry and takes advantage of AQUASOMES (also known as "bodies of water") that protect Vitamin C by bypassing gastric metabolism so that it can get directly into the cells where it needs to exert its action, thus increasing bioavailability and efficacy.
