TO IMPROVE THE TIME AND QUALITY OF REST

What is Sleep Aid from Tn Pharma and what is it used for?

Tn Pharma's Sleep Aid is a supplement of melatonin, plant extracts and magnesium, with patented ingredients Valeroselect®, Affron® and Sunphenon®: its action contributes to a reduction in the time it takes to fall asleep.

Sleep is one of the essential factors in maintaining good overall health. Poor quality of sleep at night is associated with a significant reduction in work performance, sports, and deterioration of daytime functions that can negatively affect a person's entire lifestyle.

As numerous studies have shown, sleep disorders are a widespread and growing problem. In a recent survey, 62% of adults worldwide confirmed that they did not sleep well; 67% reported having sleep disturbances at least once a week, and 44% said that sleep quality had deteriorated as they got older.

That's why we formulated TN Pharma SLEEP AID, the nutraceutical supplement composed of key cofactors and innovative patents, a support designed to improve sleep disorders once and for all and promote restorative rest.

Sleep Aid is a certified vegan, gluten-free, lactose-free product.

Sleep disorders: what they are, causes and remedies

Recently, sleep quality has been defined as the satisfaction of the sleep experience that depends on aspects such as sleep onset, sleep maintenance, sleep quantity, and the level of perceived refreshment upon awakening.

The National Sleep Foundation has published a list of key indicators of good quality rest, including increased time spent in bed, falling asleep in 30 minutes or less, waking up no more than once per night and up to 20 minutes after falling asleep.

The third edition of the International Classification of Sleep Disorders lists seven categories of disorders:

  • insomnia, especially chronic insomnia;
  • respiratory disorders, such as snoring and obstructive apnea;
  • central hypersomnolence disorders, such as narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia;
  • circadian sleep-wake rhythm disorders, including jet lag and delayed sleep-wake disorder ;
  • parasomnias ,
  • such as sleepwalking, rapid eye movement (REM) disorder, and sleep paralysis;
  • movement disorders, such as restless legs syndrome;
  • other sleep disorders .

What are the causes of sleep disorders?

People who complain of disturbed, low-quality sleep may have high levels of arousal (hyperexcitation) even in the evening hours. Hyperexcitation is a state of cognitive and physiological activation that may be constantly present in certain individuals. This state can lead to a long latency in falling asleep with the difficulty of "switching off" the centers of wakefulness.

Considering the research and valiant proposed models that wakefulness hyperactivity and rest hypoactivity cause insomnia, patients with difficulty falling asleep due to this condition might benefit from compounds that can reduce cognitive and physiological activation in the evening hours.

In fact, to date, there are many patients with insomnia or poor sleep quality who first-line often resort to taking medications when, in fact, one should first work on lifestyle with appropriate nutritional-cognitive-behavioral therapy and then evaluate the rest.

Although sedatives and hypnotics are effective, chronically they can cause various problems such as dependence, abuse, cross-reactivity with other drugs, and other side effects, including memory loss, abnormal thoughts, behavioral alterations, bowel problems, and headaches.

Here is where ancient medicine comes to our rescue, corroborated by innovative nutracetuci compounds of the last century that offer a viable alternative to modulate and improve sleep-wake phases.

Therefore, after much research, we have come up with Tn Pharma's Sleep Aid formula, a nutraceutical compound developed specifically to support and alleviate sleep disorders.

In addition to finding key cofactors and phytotherapeutics to modulate sleep such as the well-known magnesium, glycine, melatonin, and gaba, all aimed at neuronal support to modulate and foster a facilitated environment for good rest, we have enhanced SLEEP AID with three outstanding nutraceutical patents:

VALEROSELECT®

Valeroselect® is a potent standardized and patented extract of Valerian (Valeriana Officinalis). Valerian is a plant in the valerian family widely used for the treatment of anxiety, states of agitation, and especially sleep disorders.

The root of this plant, with its unmistakable smell, contains some important essential oils and in turn consists of monoterpene (mainly borneol derivatives) and sesquiterpene compounds (valerenic acid, valerenal, valeranone and beta-caryophyllene). Of all, the active compounds contained in the plant, we are particularly interested in valepotriates, some lignans, and modest amounts of alkaloids, but especially valerenic acids.

The anxiolytic and sedative properties of valerian root are due to all of its constituents and, in particular, the valerenic acids. These compounds are in fact capable of acting on GABAergic control mainly through inhibition of presynaptic GABA degradation and reuptake and promotion of synthesis by activation of an enzyme called glutamate decarboxylase.

Since GABA is an inhibitory-type neurotransmitter, substances that increase the activity of GABAergic synapses depress the activity of the central nervous system, which has a relaxing and anxiolytic effect.

Due to the presence of these active ingredients, Valeroselect® possesses sedative, relaxing, and hypnoinductive properties where its administration can help over time to reduce symptoms related to anxiety and agitation but most importantly improve the time, duration, and quality of sleep.

SUNPHENON® TH-30

L-theanine is a non-proteinogenic amino acid in tea responsible for the drink's umami taste and, more importantly, for some of its recognized positive effects on the central nervous system (CNS) where it acts synergistically with caffeine and catechins.

Studies with the pure molecule have shown that L-theanine induces a state of relaxation without drowsiness, improves sleep quality, has an anxiolytic effect, modulates certain components of stress, improves cognitive function, and is a neuroprotectant.

In detail, Sunphenon® TH-30 L-theanine crosses the blood-brain barrier within 30 minutes after oral administration by exploiting the neutral amino acid carrier and can interact with multiple targets in the CNS.

Its action primarily of inhibiting glutamate-operated transmission (by interfering with the glutamine ASCT2 carrier) limits neuronal supplies of the main biosynthetic precursor of this crucial excitatory amino acid. In addition to this, it behaves as a low-affinity antagonist of ionotropic receptors (NMDA, AMPA and kainate) and the type I metabotropic receptor (mGLUr-1) of the same neurotransmitter.

At the hippocampal and prefrontal levels (particularly on neurons of the thalamocortical loop), in contrast, L-theanine has been shown to act as a coagonist of NMDA receptors, which explains certain positive effects highlighted by the compound in clinical pictures of psychosis and schizophrenia. By opposing the excitotoxicity of glutamate and due to its accessory antioxidant action, both direct and indirect, L-theanine is also able to play an important neuroprotective role and in improving rest.

The Sunphenon® TH-30 molecule is biosynthesized in the roots, where concentrations are highest, and transported to the leaf system; several factors influence its levels, particularly sun exposure: shade-grown teas, such as matcha and gyokuro, are the richest in theanine.

AFFRON®

Affron® is a patented saffron-based nutraceutical, used for millennia in ancient medicine, standardized to 3.5 percent Lepticrosalides ™.

The quality of Affron® is based on reliable local sourcing, the selection of the Spanish species Crocus sativus L., and the unique extraction process that uniquely concentrates and preserves the active ingredients with low energy consumption.

Affron® acts on multiple levels that explain its effect:

  • Inhibition of the reuptake of dopamine, norepinephrine and serotonin, increasing the concentrations of these neurotransmitters in the synaptic cleft of neurons, thus improving mood balance.
  • Antioxidant effect against excessive oxidative stress produced during anxiety or stress processes in the central nervous system .
  • Reduction of secretion of stress signals (apoptotic biomarkers and proinflammatory molecules) during periods of maximum stress from hippocampal tissue.
  • Reduction of the proinflammatory environment within nerve tissue due to the potent anti-inflammatory action.
  • Modulation of glutamate levels, promoting a positive "environment" for good rest .

The beneficial properties of Affron® are supported by human clinical studies that have confirmed how its supplementation can improve mood during periods of high stress, modulate anxiety, and especially optimize sleep by combating symptoms of insomnia and depression.
